For reply to your letter of the 20th inst.
I am directed by His Excellency to inform you that by the Instructions of Her Majesty's Government, no residences, at the Public Expense, are allowed to the Civil Officers of the Colony, and that the privilege you enjoy of living in your present house, is considered equivalent to an increase of Salary.
